What's the science behind CBD?

Updated: Oct 6, 2019

Why are so many people experiencing positive results with CBD?

CBD or Cannabidiol supports the Endocanabinoid system throughout your body.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and why is it crucial to overall health?

The Endocannibinoid system is a long word that can barely be pronounced. Very few practitioners in the healthcare field know much about it and how critical it is to our health.

The ECS system has been around for 600 million years in our evolution and over 1,000 species on the planet have an ECS. We just recently discovered it and learning more about it. We currently know that it regulates and modulates our nervous system and immune system.

ECS is so important to our health that according to many scientists and clinicians, it is the main driver for regulating our body’s homeostasis.

What is Homeostasis?

Homeostasis is a very delicate balancing act that our body constantly strives to keep us in balance and in good health. When homeostasis is off kilter, we fall into a “dis-ease” state. Our body constantly communicates and coordinates with the other systems mentioned to keep a “balanced” homeostasis.

ECS is the primary work horse that communicates and

interconnects with all the organ systems.

Supporting the ECS with CBD.

The ECS can be supported by taking Cannabidiol oil, better known as CBD oil. It comes from two sources-hemp and marijuana. Both sources get the same job done. Marijuana is illegal in most states, or requires a physician prescription, or you can get hemp sourced CBD oil, which is legal in all 50 states.

Please understand that there is no high when taking CBD oil from hemp; especially in the Isolate form, which is guaranteed to have no THC. THC is the psycho- active component in marijuana that creates the ‘high’. It’s very safe and can be taken long term at specific doses, preferably under the supervision of a practitioner who has clinical experience.

CBD oil has a very broad therapeutic effect across so many systems in the body.

As you may know, there are 11 important organ systems that make up our body:

  1. Circulatory

  2. Muscle

  3. Nervous

  4. Skeletal

  5. Integumentary

  6. Respiratory

  7. Digestive

  8. Endocrine

  9. Excretory

  10. Immune

  11. Reproductive

Did you know that in the 1990's, the Endocannibinoid system (ECS) was discovered and it is now the 12th system? We learned that cannabinoids have their effects on the body by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the brain and the body that makes up the ECS.

When the ECS is malfunctioning due to poor genes and or a deficiency in cannabinoids in the body, a dis-ease state follows, simply because homeostasis is imbalanced.

When there is an imbalance, many symptoms and conditions can present itself.

There are many conditions that benefit from supporting the ECS:

· Seizures

· Migraines

· Addiction

· Multiple sclerosis

· Fibromyalgia

· Gastrointestinal conditions

· Arthritis

· Insomnia

· Anxiety

· PTSD

· Obsessive compulsive disorder

· Depression

· Alzheimer’s

· Cancer

· Autism

· Acne, psoriasis, and other skin conditions

A healthy functioning ECS is critical to one’s health.

There are144 cannabinoids that are found in hemp and cannabis, but CBD is responsible for 80% of the medicinal benefits.

Therefore, CBD oil is the work horse to getting your nervous system and immune system to function optimally.
